LI NA
ON RETIRING:-
?It?s pretty sad. For me it?s a tough decision to retire. My knees can?t handle it any more. Now women?s tennis is pretty tough everyone is much stronger, if I can?t stay healthy, I can?t play at a high level.?
ON HER KNEE PROBLEMS, AND HAVING HER FOUTH KNEE SURGERY IN JULY:-
?My doctors say that my knees are like a car, they need oil to move around.?
ON HOW SHE WANTS THE WORLD TO REMEMBER LI NA:-
?Honestly I would like the world to forget me?.
ON HAVING A FAMILY:-
?Of course, family for me is the most important thing.?
NICK KYRGIOS
ON THE WIMBLEDON QUARTER-FINALS, WHERE HE BEAT RAFA NADAL:-
?The day before I honestly thought I had a chance, I was playing some really good tennis. I thought that if I played my game right, served well, I?d have a chance. That was the best serving experience I?ve ever had in my life.?
ON TRYING TO BECOME THE NUMBER ONE PLAYER IN THE WORLD:-
?There is a lot of expectation. We have a great team around me to help me through that. I?m still young, still maturing trying to deal with things in my life that?s changed. It?s going to be a long journey.?
ON WHO OUT OF THE BIG FOUR HE ADMIRES:-
?It?s hard to get past Roger, I think he is the greatest of all time. Rafa, he?s the greatest clay court player of all time. He is untouched on that surface. Djokovic, he is personally the one of the big four, I wouldn?t want to play?and obviously Murray is tough as well.?
STAN WAWRINKA
ON NEVER EXPECTING TO WIN LAST YEAR?S AUSTRALIAN OPEN:-
?It?s true, I always thought I was not the same level as the grand slam winners. You have four guys who have won all the grand slams except for Del Potro one year.?
ON HIS APPROACH TO A MATCH:-
?For me I look step by step, match by match. I was looking at Roger, I was looking at the final of a grand slam, and for me it was too far but when I go on the court against Roger, Rafa or Novak. I know I can beat him, that?s how I made this happen.
ON CRASHING OUT OF THE FRENCH OPEN IN THE FIRST ROUND AFTER WINNING HIS FIRST EVER GRAND SLAM TITLE IN MELBOURNE AND HIS FIRST EVER MASTER?S 1000 CROWN IN MONTE CARLO:- ?The pressure was completely different from the outside, that is why I had some ups and downs. For myself, I wanted to play better tennis and I didn?t really accept when it wasn?t that great.?
ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE MEDIA:-
?There is more expectation on you, because you are seeded number three or number four so people expect you to be in the semi-finals to give more interviews. You need to just accept it and try hard to stay yourself, and accept that sometimes you have to say no because you cannot do everything and make everyone happy.?
ON THE COMIC STRIPS FROM HIS HOMETOWN OF LAUSANNE:-
?He did a lot about me and Roger about the tennis, it?s quite famous in Switzerland. I quite like it. I like to laugh. I like to laugh about myself also so I quite enjoy to read it.?

ON GROWING UP PLAYNG TENNIS:-
?We were the aboriginal family in the town. They saw me hitting against the wall every day, which is how I started with an apple crate board, even before I saw a tennis court and wall?Whenever I went off to play tournaments my mum would say bye have a lovely day and when I came back all she?d ask was did you have a lovely day? She never asked if I?d won!?
ON MOVING TO SYDNEY AT THE AGE OF 14 YEARS OLD TO ENROL IN TENNIS SCHOOL:-
?I just loved playing, I think the pain of leaving home was all gone once I got on to that tennis court and I was happy.?
ON WINNING:-
?After winning Wimbledon it doesn?t really sink in straight away, particular in the 80?s it didn?t sink in until I watched myself a year or two later playing Chris and I thought wow I did that I must have been pretty good!?
ON BEING FROM AN ABORIGINAL FAMILY:-
?I don?t think I had any prejudice until I went to the cities?I always thought of myself as tennis player, I never really thought of myself as aboriginal until I came home and I remember coming home and mum saying ?I am so proud you are the first aboriginal to win.?
ON LAUNCHING THE GOOLAGONG NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CAMP:-
?This program is about come and try from the age of 5-15. Hopefully they?ll have so much fun that they want to keep playing. The whole idea is that they stay in school. We probably have thousands of kids all around Australia relying on us. My husband and I, we really love doing it.?
